For 5 years (2001-2006) I was working as a P.E. teacher and sports instructor. In 2006 I have moved to Ireland and started working for Shannon Leisure Centre as leisure attendant.

      My interests are history, underwater archaeology, travels, books, sports and sports nutrition.

    As the origional and best indoor cycling programme, spinning simulates the outdoor cycle over all terrain from rolling hills to flat roads, all to the beat of the music. Everybody agrees that it is the best way to get fit FAST, with an intense workout that conveniently lasts only 50mins, including warm up and cool down.

    Spinning was created in California by Madd Dogg Athletics and is the original and most popular indoor cycling class in the world. AeroSpinning is Shannon’s first spinning class and has been teaching since 2009. All AeroSpinning instructors are fully Madd Dogg certified. We cater for all fitness levels; from completed beginners to competitive triathletes, in our custom studio with 25 spin bikes, and music that begs your legs to pedal.

    Spinning is a low impact workout on a stationary bike which guarantees weight loss, toning and fun while getting fit to the sound of good music.!!!!

    Improve your overall flexibility & wellbeing

    Intensity: low

    Mobility & Flexibility class has been ongoing since 2010 and is aimed at people with limited mobility, back and hip problems. Mostly for middle-age and older customers who are unable to attend high intensity fitness classes.
    1. Mobility
    Stretching, relaxing and correcting exercises with music mostly in lying and sitting position.
    Main goals: general mobility and flexibility improvement, back pain reduction, muscle relaxation and core strength development

    Junior Gym is for teens aged 13 – 15yrs interested in working out. There is a fully qualified instructor present at all times to assist and advise.

    Beginners and those with experience welcome, this is a mixed level class.

    Mindfulness & meditation for kids

    Luna Og Kids Yoga Shannon Leisure CentreLuna Òg kids yoga classes are coming to our Shannon Leisure Centre!

    Saturday mornings 10am starting the 30th April 2022!

    At Luna Òg we teach Mindfulness & meditation through yoga. Our classes teach children how to calm their own minds through breath work, posture, yoga poses and creative games with meaning.

    • We also use breath work to calm anxiety of the busy mind.
    • We help build self confidence through affirmations.
    • We teach children the benefits of yoga.
    • We also teach children the benefits of light meditation and stillness.
    • The mindfulness aspect of these classes teach children how to identify their emotions and how to deal with them, whatever they may be.

    Classes will be in a 6 week block. Booking is essential as we have limited spaces.

    Unwind into the weekend

    Yoga Stretch Class Shannon Leisure CentreA new 6 week set of Friday evening Yoga | Stretch class is starting on Friday 27th May 5:30pm. 🍃🧘‍♀️

    This incredibly popular class taught by the amazing Aileen O’Donnell is a great way to finish off a hard week and welcome in the weekend ahead. 🥰

    Spaces are limited and cost of the block of 6 weeks is only €24 for members of Shannon Leisure Centre and €39 for non members which is extremely good value.

    A note from the instructor

    This hatha style yoga / stretch class is for beginners and it consists of centering and pranayama (breath).

    Our nourishing breath allows us to live and move more freely within our bodies.

    Asana (our yoga postures & sequences) as many of us know today as yoga.
    Moving into limbering the body with special attention to our hips and shoulders while keeping the spine healthy and strong.

    The practice will be gentle and at a slow pace and we will use pranayama to focus inwards to the muscles that support the lower back and spine which is essential for spine health.

    Warming and strengthening the body is next maybe adding in some ”sun salutations” fusing movement with breath.

    Strengthening postures are sometimes standing up or on the mat and the idea is to go deep inside the body to experience the pose which is unique to you.

    Building all our poses from the ground up.

    Moving now into our cooling and calming stage of our class with attention to flexibility and stretching which is super important preventing you from injuries and making your body more mobile.

    Relaxation (Shavasana) helps to alleviate stress, cultivates peace, harmony, calm and acceptance.
